SAT & ACT

PSAT

Is the PSAT still relevant?  It is hard to say.  The PSAT is a test to prepare students for the SAT.  The SAT is no longer considered for admission for the University of California or for the California State University college systems.  Currently there are over 2070 colleges nationwide that offer test-free admission or are test optional.  Please look here for a list of those colleges: Click Here

There are reasons to take the SAT.

The California State Seal of Biliteracy uses SAT test scores to prove English Proficiency: Click Here
The California State University System uses the SAT for English and math placement: Click Here
The Military Academies use SAT test scores for admission
Some notable colleges have reinstated the SAT including: Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard, Yale, Georgetown, MIT, Caltech, and the entire public university systems of Florida and Georgia.
Juniors who take the PSAT will be considered for National Merit Scholarships: Click Here

While the COVID years almost made the SAT obsolete, it is now making a comeback as we return to normal college admission processes.

While the courses students take and the grades students receive are generally the most important criteria for college admission, the test results of the ACT®(administered by ACT, Inc.) or the SAT (administered by College Board) are also considered. Refer to the admission guidelines for each college or university for details.
